SECURE CANADA'S ECONOMY
by balancing the budget over the next decade.
My caucus and I understand the importance of getting our economy back on track. We can’t pass unsustainable debt on to future generations. Once the recovery starts, we will need to get spending under control while encouraging economic growth and investment in Canada.
We must wind down emergency COVID support programs in a responsible way as Canadians are vaccinated and the economy re-opens. Spending to protect Canadians in the pandemic was the right thing to do, and my conservative colleagues and I supported it. But we cannot pass unsustainable debt on to future generations. Once the recovery starts, we will need to get spending under control.
Ensure that stimulus measures are targeted and time-limited to avoid creating a structural deficit. The Canadian economy needs to get back on track after its derailing at the hands of poor Liberal management. Proper goals and targets must be set in order to optimize spending and effectiveness.
Get the economy growing again after years of slow growth under the Liberals, so that we have the revenue to pay for the government services that Canadians rely on.
